Introducing author T.S. Valmond

I'm excited to announce a new addition to the Cadicle Universe: T.S. Valmond!

The Verity Chronicles will be set several years after the end of Scions of Change, featuring a diverse cast of characters on a small ship. If the cover is doing its job, the inspiration should be obvious ;-).

About the first book

A grifter, a gambler, an android, a spy—and those are the good guys!

TSS Agent Jovani Saletas has a problem with authority. They say he’s insubordinate... or so it's called when you punch a superior officer during a routine training exercise.

With no other place for him, Jovani is shipped off to the outer colonies to run surveillance. The assignment seems tedious until he makes his way onto the Verity.

Captain Iza Sundari comes from nothing, but she’s fought to carve out a life for herself with her eclectic crew on Verity. Owning a ship is the closest thing to freedom she can find, but she’ll have to pay for it. And freedom comes at a steep price.

When a risky proposition leads to the perfect job, it seems Iza’s financial troubles might be over. But with hidden agendas at every turn, she’ll have to cross a line she swore she never would to protect her ship and crew.

A brief chat with the author

Below is a brief Q&A so you can start getting to know T.S. Valmond and some of her interests.

When did you first develop an interest in writing?

Reading came first, but I was creating my own stories on paper before I could spell. The first story I ever shared with people outside my family was in the fourth grade.

It was an Indiana Jones inspired a utopian society that had lost touch with books. (Yes, I recognize the irony :-))

When an older friend of mine started writing scripts for Star Trek (TNG) and submitting them, I realized there was so much more to writing than just novels. I took writing courses at the University of MN and submitted a poem for our local art museum that won first prize. After that, I couldn’t stop writing.

Do you have any books already published?

Yes, The Bolaji Kingdoms three-book series was started in 2017 and completed in 2018. A young adult science fiction fantasy story that takes place on an alien world. There are two other books in that world that take place outside of the series. One is the prequel and the other is well into the future featuring a female deaf protagonist.

I started publishing my first space opera in 2018. The first book in that series is called Hope Saved and it documents the beginning journey of displaced humans forced to find yet another home when their planet is destroyed by an asteroid.

What attracted you to the Cadicle universe?

It’s got all my sci-fi and fantasy ‘feels’: telepathy, aliens, tech, genetic experimentation, and government conspiracies. Basically, it’s everything I like to read and write.

When the opportunity came up to add my own unique perspective and work with the Queen of Space Opera, I couldn’t raise my hand fast enough.

What are some of your other fandoms and interests, books or otherwise?

I live in the Star Wars, Star Trek, and Firefly fandoms full-time. After I moved to Canada I discovered a few more amazing shows filmed here: Lost in Space (2018), Dark Matter (R.I.P.), and Murdoch Mysteries.

Basically, if it’s got fantasy elements or spaceships, I’m all in. I just wish they’d make more.

Please join me in welcoming T.S. Valmond to the Cadicle Universe!
